He was a student at an Army Air Force Welding School in Lambert Field, MO from December 1942 to April 1943. The school lasted 15 weeks.

He was promoted in the military before December 30, 1945.⁽⁶³⁹⁶⁾ He served 39 months as an Aircraft Welder, MOS 573, and earned the rank of Staff Sargeant.
