As near as the restorers could figure out, stands the stars and stripes of 1812.
We stayed by the harbor in Baltimore and decided to walk to Fort McHenry. The walk was supposed to be 20 minutes, but after an hour we still were not there! Finally we say a replica of the flage that flew over the fort when Francis Scott Keyes wrote the national anthem.
We went to the mall in Washington DC to see the new WWII Memorial. Sorry, but we did not get the emotional tingles that we get when we see the Korean War and the Vietnam wall.
Rich's father served in the Pacific so these 2 pictures honor the war in the Pacific.
The fountain at the WWII Memorial.
The reliefs in the walls are very interesting. We chose to stand by the aircraft carrier because Rich's father was on the Boxer aircraft carrier. From the left: Rich Parr, Pris Parr, Mike Parr, Amanda Fortino.
